Atiim Kiambu "Tiki" Barber,
athlete, spokesman, author, media personality and activist. As the New York Giant’s all star running back from 1997-2006, he holds every conceivable rushing record in the team’s history. His illustrious career is highlighted by three consecutive Pro Bowls, four team MVP awards and five Team Offensive MVP awards. Tiki is also one of three players in NFL history to have at least 10,000 yards rushing and 5,000 yards receiving in a career. After retiring from the NFL, Tiki joined NBC’s Today Show and Football Night in America/Sunday Night Football.
Tiki credits his achievements both on and off the field to his mother, Geraldine and the support of his twin brother (and football star) Ronde Barber. Geraldine always stressed that studies came before playing football - Tiki shares that discipline. His ability to balance a successful academic and athletic career serves as a model for at-risk children, leading them to experience and eventually succeed in different educational, cultural and athletic endeavors. Sending the right message and helping children in need are essential parts of Tiki’s life as demonstrated by his active participation with the Fresh Air Fund, the Robin Hood Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, and the Verizon Literacy Champion Program.
The Koby Mandell Foundation is pleased to honor Tiki with the Koby Mandell Humanitarian Award. Tiki’s graciousness, humility and profound desire to serve as a role model to countless children and young adults have been hallmarks of his career as a star athlete, media personality and businessman.
