SECURITY AND SAFETY

The Koby Mandell Foundation recognizes that security is one of the chief concerns for parents of our participants. The information provided on this page addresses these concerns.

On all Camp Koby programs, security and safety is our highest priority. Over the past three years, we have provided the most professional security and safety environment that is possible. Our standards are well above and beyond what is required by government ministries. This is due to the nature of our work - we need to ensure that the family members of terror victims will be able to sleep as soundly as possible at night.

[1] Security and Medical Assistance while staying at Camp Koby:
Camp Koby is located on two kibbutzim (Tze'elim and Gvulot). Both kibbutzim are completely enclosed facilities with 24/7 security personnel. In addition, The Summer in Israel Program has its own security personnel which stays with the group.
The Program provides Health Care for all participants. At the campsite, medical personal is available at all times.

[2] Security and Medical Assistance while outside Camp Koby:
Security and medical personnel accompany all activities outside of the Camp Koby campus. If specific medical problems arise, the group director will make the appropriate arrangements.

[3] Touring, travel routes and lodging.
We plan our itineraries in coordination with the Security Department of The Ministry of Education, which receives constant reports from the army and security agencies, and provides us with alerts and precautionary directives. Decisions regarding travel routes and lodging locations are made in consultation with the police or army. Participants do not sightsee or travel independently, and are prohibited from traveling beyond the Green Line.

[4] Free Shabbatot.
Before the program begins, you will be asked to complete a form indicating where and with whom the participant will be spending their free Shabbat. On the Friday before the free Shabbat, participants will be dropped off at one of two locations in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. These locations will be easily accessible yet not crowded. Hosts will be asked to pick up the participants from these locations and return them to the same place on Sunday morning. If participants would like to spend their free Shabbat beyond the green line, or travel in public transportation, parental permission is needed.

Throughout the summer you will be receiving constant updates via email. Please feel free to call or email us at any time if you have additional concerns.
